Project Description
Identity & Branding
While millennials are moving into the city to live the downtown lifestyle, baby boomers are leaving the empty nest behind and retreating to quieter, smaller towns where they can escape the hustle and bustle. With our demographic in mind, we were tasked with designing a humble, classic looking identity for the new Matchedash Lofts located in a city just outside of Toronto - Orillia, Ontario.
For the past forty years or so, the site of the historic Matchedash Lofts building had been a Pontiac dealership and we wanted to pay homage to that. We wanted to reference the building itself but we also thought the automobile was the perfect symbol to engage our demographic. Growing up in the fifties, owning a car was a sign of pride, much like owning property, so we wanted to play that up a bit.
Logo & Wordmark
The logo is a reference to the original Pontiac logo and the corner lot in which the Matchedash Lofts sit. We kept "past and present" front and center in every concept throughout the branding process. Ultimately, it was important to keep the logo simple and memorable. We're thrilled with the result.

Typography & Colour
We needed a font that would capture the elegance and sophistication of the property. We chose "Playfair Display" as our headline font and complemented it with a sans-serif, Brandon Grotesque, to keep a more traditional feel.

Web & UI Design
We loved the water color rendering so much we used it quite heavily. We paired it with an elegant serif font, some nice colors that reflect the building and simply let the drawing do its job.
A Springboard Approach
The site is very dependent on a grid as we've used a box centric layout. The grid acts as a springboard, pushing people to various sections of the site.
We also included a map that is permanently visible in the footer along with a quick and easy way for people to register for exclusive deals and promotions

Website Development
This is a custom Wordpress theme. Along with the usual information about the development, area and corporation, we built in the functionality to allow the addition and removal of floor plans in a category based image gallery. Another highlight of the project was allowing for nearby hot-spots to be added to a Google map to show potential customers what attractions and facilities were nearby. We also animated some of the components to make for a more memorable visit and most importantly. Lead capture is huge in Real Estate, and this didn't go overlooked - we made it really quick and easy for people to register with Matchedash by putting a nice clean form in the footer.Framework
